I want to share 3 of my favorite places to road trip to from Vegas! Las Vegas has so much to do already, but it’s always nice to get a little closer to the coast. Southern California is probably one of my favorite places in the US. If you follow me on social media you know that I have lived so many different places, but no place has quite had the vibes, weather, shopping, beaches, and entertainment like SoCal. I typically travel with my crew, and consider my top 3 SoCal destinations to be family friendly!
1. Huntington Beach
The first on my list is Huntington Beach, California which is southeast of Los Angeles. It’s 10 miles of coastline and year-round Summer time. USA Today has named Huntington Beach one of “The Best Beaches of California”. Within view of the Pacific Ocean you’ll find a laid-back lifestyle where you can enjoy shopping, food, and of course the beautiful coast. There are more than a dozen shops right along the coast, endless beach activities like surfing, paddle boarding, and whale watching. Traveling with a child, I prefer to keep things simple. Sand on the beach and bustling waves were enough entertainment for our family. If you’re ever on this beach and looking for lunch, stop at TK Burger. I ordered the BEST turkey burger, and there’s a Dairy Queen next door for dessert!
2. San Diego
Second on my list of favorites is San Diego, California. Home of the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld, it’s a great place to vacation with family. Again, the Pacific beach here is just so beautiful and surrounded by one of the largest cities in the US. Much like the rest of Southern California, San Diego is perfect for a weekend trip from Vegas. The weather is perfect and the vibe is luxurious! It’s super clean and just a beautiful place to wander about and explore.
3. Anaheim, California
- It’s probably obvious why Anaheim, California is one of my favorite places to visit in Southern California, as it is home to Disneyland California. I don’t think there is much to explain about Disneyland and why it’s such a great place to visit, but I can compare it to Disney World. In my experience Disneyland was easier to navigate because it’s smaller and the weather was perfect during our trips in the Fall and Winter. For me, Disneyland was a better experience, because we didn’t need many days to see most of the park. My favorite park at Disneyland was Cars Land. Life-sized Cars characters drove about the park and the racetrack roller coaster was epic! So there you have it, my top three favorite Southern California destinations. I am sure there is so much more to explore in SoCal, so please share your top picks!
