As a kid I remember ordering the “Slaw Dog” from this dine-in/drive through restaurant in the small town where my Grandparents reside. Before then I had never seen this combination of a hot dog topped with chili AND coleslaw. I found it to be so delicious and to my dismay I have never been able to find it on any other occasion outside of visits to my Grandparents’.
Preparing a Slaw Dog from start to finish is pretty simple. All you need to do is prepare a hot dog as you normally would, add chili, and top with coleslaw. I like to use turkey dogs as well as turkey chili. For this recipe the only thing I prepare that is not premade is the coleslaw. For my homemade coleslaw recipe you are simply adding all of your ingredients in a large bowl and mixing them together. I like to let the slaw mixture sit in the refrigerator for a few hours to serve chilled but you could serve right after preparation as well.
